Throughout my life, I have been drawn to stories, both to hearing the narratives within the lives of others and to unfolding visual stories in my art. I started photography in a traditional darkroom, including formal instruction and degree, and easily moved into the digital era, all the while developing my visual curiosity—depicting details and connections so that others could share my vision. More recently, I have moved towards printing with alternative processes and using encaustic wax methods to better combine elements into hand-crafted pieces with layers, textures, and words thus more extensive story-making.
I have long had a love for teaching, and after I retired from teaching biological sciences at the college level, I have continued to teach art and photography-based workshops. My passion is to help students get the results they desire rather than to simply impart skills. I learn as much from my students as they learn from me, and I am continually gleaning new stories from those who participate in my workshops. I enjoy sharing my artwork and the narratives of my art, and I am currently represented at two local art galleries. I compete at various local and regional art shows where I have received numerous awards including best of show, and now my work is being published internationally.
